Kris Ettner

Kris attended Southern Oregon State College (now Southern Oregon University) and received a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine.  While attending college she was a member of the Track and Field team where she became an All American and National Champion javelin thrower.  She also competed internationally representing the USA and placed third in a Championship Meet against some of Europe’s future Olympians.  Her passion for track continues, as a throws coach with measured success for the Grants Pass High School track team.

Kris became a police officer in 1997 after serving the public as a firefighter for over a decade.  She began in law enforcement with very little experience in self defense.  Seeing this as a weakness, she enrolled in as many defensive tactics classes as she could.  She found these classes to be mentally challenging and great for fitness development.  Kris’s desire to improve her skills blossomed into the desire to share her knowledge by teaching others. She has been a defensive tactics instructor for both law enforcement personnel and private citizens since 2002.
